Stellenbosch Tour: A truly Capetonian experience for both wine and beer lovers!
South Africa is renowned for both her beer and her wine, and we have some of the best wine farms and craft breweries right here in the Cape. We also know that sometimes the lads like beer more than the ladies do, and we don’t want to force anyone to chose between the two! So we’ve created our very own Stellenbosch tour, perfect for both guys and gals, with some biltong and an afternoon braai thrown in for good measure. This uniquely Capetonian tour takes you to the best spots along the famous Stellenbosch wine route.
The Stellenbosch tour requires a bit of a drive from Cape Town city centre, but you don’t need to worry about that. We’ll fetch you at 10am at your location within the city bowl, and drop you off after the tour finishes – so you can have as much wine and beer as you like!
Craft Microbrewery Tour & Tasting
Our first stop takes us to the home of the World’s Best Craft Lager of 2014. At this microbrewery we’ll be treated to an in-depth tour of the facilities, taste four beers (including a uniquely local Rooibos infused lager), and indulge in a morning draught beer of your choice. Worried about your waistline? Don’t be! These beers are naturally low in carbs, with two being completely sugar free, ensuring that these moments on the lips will never reach the hips.
Cape Dutch Winery Tasting
Our next stop boasts traditional Cape Dutch architecture, which is to be expected from a farm built in 1682! We’ll get to taste some top drawer wines here, and you’ll definitely want to pick a few bottles up when you see the affordable price tags. Some of the most beautiful gardens in the winelands, upon tastings we will bask in the gardens with some South African snacks available.
Biltong & Wine Pairing
Now it’s time for something you will literally only find in South Africa: a wine and biltong pairing. Yep, you read right, that’s wine and biltong – paired for your enjoyment while you drink in the spectacular views on show at this location. This is an experience you aren’t likely to ever forget, including panoramic views, carefully chosen local biltong and remarkable wines.
Authentic South African Braai
Our last stop of the day could not get any more authentically South African. We quite literally pull off the road into a dirt carpark to find a microbrewery in a shed. The beers on offer here are brewed in accordance with the strict old German Reinheitsgebot brewing law, presented in classic swing-top bottles. Here we’ll have an awesome chilled afternoon braai (coal barbeque), and you can enjoy some of the drinks you’ve purchased along the trip. The owners let you bring in your own wine if you’re not in the mood for their beer.
With all the festivities ticked off the list, we’ll head home for a 6:30pm drop off back at your location of choice in Cape Town city bowl.
